Current News

March 2008

Madison Magazine's April 2008 issue has two stories featuring E&W Heating and Resource Solar, with whom E&W is proudly working to provide quality solar products and service to Wisconsin.

Also check out the article on the use of environmentally friendly local materials.

Good Day Sunshine

"Mike Ward, director of system design for solar-heating contractor Resource Solar, says solar thermal panels are an option for new or existing homes. "

Take it to the Floor

"When your feet are cold, it's hard for any part of your body to feel warm. That's why radiant flooring is becoming a hot - and sometimes environmentally friendly - trend in new and remodeled homes."

Greener Shade of Green

"[E]nvironmentally minded designers are also considering not just what they use, but where it all comes from. Because already-green choices can get even greener if you shop smarter--and locally."

January 2007

Time has flown.  We celebrated 50 continuous years in business last year without ceremony.  We were too busy to mount the traditional PR campaign that most businesses wage.

We are grateful to all our clients for enabling us to ignore pomp and circumstance in order to simply continue onward with what we do best.

December 2004

In the past months, E&W has been actively attempting to inform local and statewide parties of the abuse and misapplication of reflective insulation products for concrete under-slab applications.

RIMA, the Reflective Insulation Manufacturers Association has a technical paper available on the subject at www.rima.net.

Home Energy Magazine has a recent article regarding a Canadian study using bubble-type reflective insulation.

The facts are available and if we don't work to stop the improper use of these products which currently claim extreme R-values for little cost and thickness, we could find ourselves in a situation where we are recommending the condemnation and replacement of concrete slabs.  Not a pretty situation for anyone to consider.

These products have a place in the world of insulation; they just have to be properly specified and applied on a project-by-project basis.
